Sand Car

IMG_6907

A perfect time for B-Crafty to share her sand sculpting creations. This week’s post was from the early ‘90’s and features a Sand Car.

B-Crafty learned this sand idea from her own dad in the 1960’s and she is delighted to be able to carry on the tradition. Happy Building!

Issue #33

Occasion: Beach Time

Category: Sand Sculpting

Materials Needed:

  • Sandy Beach
  • Bucket
  • Shovel
  • Imagination
  • Shells and other beach finds

Instructions:

Dig a hole for the front seat driver to place their feet and a hole for the back seat passenger to place their feet. The place where they will actually sit, will be on the sand level. Then build the seat back with sand. Following this build the car body around the seats. Don’t forget to add tires, license plates and lights. Hours of play awaits.

B-Crafty Tip: B-Crafty began building in the sand in the 1970’s  following in her dad’s footsteps. She continued in the 1990’s building for her own sons. The go-to was always the “sand car” where the boys could actually sit in the car and play. In 1997, the B-Crafty family began entering a sand sculpting contest in Ocean City NJ.

For the month of August B-Crafty will post the early entries in the contest and share tips and tools to use. Stay tuned and be inspired to start building in the sand.
