B-Crafty offers the family’s first entry into the Ocean City, NJ Sand Sculpting contest in 1997. Get started this weekend with your own sand creations!
Issue #34
Occasion: Beach Time
Category: Sand Sculpting
Materials Needed:
- Sandy beach
- Bucket and shovel
- Carrots and twigs
- Shells
- Imagination
Instructions:
The best way to build a sand sculpture is to build a big pile of sand mixed constantly with water. Then carve into the pile to make your sculpture. Not knowing any better at the time B-Crafty built the snowmen from the bottom up. It worked but the snowmen themselves got very squatty looking and there were times the added wet sand on top caused some minor collapses. What saves every amateur sculpture is the props so adding the carrot brought from home and the shells and twigs found on the beach greatly enhanced the sand sculpture, Number one instruction is to have a good time.
B-Crafty Tip: This is our first entry in the Ocean City, NJ Sand Sculpting contest in 1997. B-Crafty and family learned so much from each experience. The best tip is to just keep trying.
