
With the school year just beginning, B-Crafty shares a tradition she has been doing for over 20 years for her local Elementary School. She makes these felt banners for each teacher’s classroom.

Materials Needed:
- Piece of felt (in school color) 16 “ wide X 25 “ long
- Pieces of felt in various colors including white, yellow, pink, gray, turquoise, etc. Cut out felt letters of the teacher’s name in white felt. (Capital letters are inches high and lower case are
- Glue and hot glue
- ¼ inch dowel stick – 18 inches

Instructions:
- Cut a piece of felt (in school color) 16 “ wide by 25 “ long. (Cut the bottom on an angle to form a ribbon look)
- Cut out felt letters of the teacher’s name in white felt. (Capital letters are 2 ¼ inches wide X 3 inches high and lower case are 1 ¾ inches wide X 2 ¼ inches high
- Cut out a motif or design for each banner. (B-Crafty uses 4 styles: pencil, scissors, glue bottle and ruler. For special subject teachers, like music or art, B-Crafty uses musical notes and a paint brush with pallet)
- Glue the name and design onto the felt.
- Make a ½ to 1 inch casing at the top of the banner by folding the felt over and hot gluing the edge
- Slide a ¼ dowel stick through the casing and cut it so approximately one inch extends on each side
- Using 2 ceiling hooks, lay the dowel stick on the hooks with banner
