B-Crafty is getting ready for Halloween with a Mini Mummy Piñata! A new idea for the Trick or Treaters in her neighborhood.
Issue #42
Occasion: Halloween
Category: Treats/Party Favors
Materials Needed:
- Empty paper towel roll
- Two oval shaped goggle eyes -10 mm
- 2-inch wide First Aid gauze (comes in 5 yd lengths) For each mummy you need 30 inches of gauze.
- From each 30-inch piece of gauze, cut two 2-inch pieces off the end.
- Glue
- Orange construction paper and black Sharpie
- Black and white baker’s twine
- 2-inch wide First Aid cloth tape cut in 2-inch length

Instructions:
- Cut empty paper towel roll in thirds, approximately 3 ¾ inches long.
- With glue attach the goggle eyes about an inch from the top of the paper towel roll.
- Then glue the two 2 inch pieces of gauze (positioned on top of each other) on the top end of the paper towel roll to seal it off.
- Fold the 30 inch long piece of gauze in half, then at the top where the end is sealed add a bit of glue and begin wrapping the gauze around the mummy all the way to the bottom leaving the goggle eyes exposed. Fasten at end near the bottom with a dab of glue
- With the orange construction paper and a black sharpie, make a message tag and write a Halloween greeting making sure to add the words “PULL HERE”.
- Punch a hole at the top and thread the baker’s twine through.
- Knot the baker’s twine’s ends together.
- With the cloth tape, lay the twine on the sticky side and place the tape at the open end of the mummy and close up the end so the candy stays inside.
B-Crafty Tip: This craft will delight everyone and the real benefit is that if you tape the bottom closed with the cloth tape a simple pull on the baker’s twine will allow the candy to cascade out and the mummy will stay in tact and can be used as a decoration.
