Stay-at-Home Birthday

What to do when you can’t get together for a friend’s birthday? Combine this B-Crafty idea with a group Zoom type call and the whole “party” can enjoy a birthday cupcake together while celebrating this Stay-at-Home Birthday.

Occasion: Birthday (during COVID-19 Quarantine)

Category: Birthday Celebration

Materials Needed:

  • Cupcake mix
  • Icing
  • Foil cupcake tins with plastic lids
  • Balloons
  • White paper for the message

Instructions:

  • Prepare the cupcakes according to the mix. Let them cool, then ice them.
  • Cut the foil tins into individual sections and do the same with the plastic lids.
  • Place a cupcake in each individual holder and place the plastic lid on top.
  • Secure the lid in place with scotch tape or packaging tape
  • Make your birthday message “tag” for each cupcake and print it out.
  • Affix the tag along with a balloon to the top of the plastic lid with a piece of tape
  • Deliver each cupcake to the participants who will be on the virtual birthday call later that day. Place the cupcakes either in the mailbox or at the front door. No need to make contact with anyone.
  • Prior to the birthday call, send an email to each participant to ask them to go to their mailbox (or front door) and retrieve the cupcake surprise.

B-Crafty Tip: Leave enough cupcakes at the birthday person’s door so they can celebrate with their “stay-at-home” family as well.
