A great way to celebrate Memorial Day and the start of summer is to revisit a sand sculpture B-Crafty and her family created a couple of years ago, an American Flag. Sand sculpting is great way to have fun on the beach.

Issue #78
Occasion: Beach Time
Category: Sand Sculpting
Materials Needed:
- Sandy beach
- Bucket and shovel
- Package of red and blue colored jell-o
- Flour
- Small star shaped cookie cutter
Instructions:
The flag was sculpted on a large pile of sand. Once you have the outline, etch in the 13 stripes and the field of blue. A star cookie cutter helps to shape the stars.
B-Crafty Tip: B-Crafty colors her sand sculptures with the powdered jell-o packages. After the sculpture is complete, just sprinkle the jello on top of the sand. To color something on the sand sculpture white, B-Crafty sprinkles it with flour. Less is more so just a hint of color works well on the sand.
