Bert & Ernie Pumpkins

Who knew that Bert and Ernie are perfectly shaped to reproduce on pumpkins? B-Crafty began this tradition over 30 years ago for her boys. With Sesame Street still on TV, it still works today. Your children will be delighted with this craft.

Issue #97

Occasion: Halloween

Category: Decoration

Materials Needed:

  • 2 pumpkins, one short and round and one tall and thin
  • Acrylic paints (black, white, red and orange)
  • Black yarn

Instructions:

  • Draw the faces on to the pumpkins with a pen
  • Paint the faces with the paints
  • With the yarn make their tuffs of hair and tie them on to the pumpkin stems

B-Crafty Tip: While pumpkins are most often carved, painting faces on pumpkins, just like Bert and Ernie, is extremely easy and mess free.
