Here is part two of B-Crafty’s birthday gifts, the “Patriotic Painted Dresser”. With help from her son and some chalk paint, an old dresser was transformed into B-Crafty’s favorite decorating theme: Patriotic: red, white and blue.

Issue #131
Occasion: Home Decorations
Category: Painting Projects
Materials:
- Old piece of paintable furniture (a four drawer dresser was used for this project)
- White wood primer paint
- Chalk paint (red, white and blue paint colors were used for this project)
- Chalk paint wax in clear
Intstructions:
- Remove the drawers and paint each drawer and the body of the dresser with white primerpaint
- For this project, the top drawer was painted blue and the white stars were added if the coat of blue dried
- Each drawer was designed with 3 stripes of alternating red and white stripes. (to get the width of the stripes divide the height of each drawer by 3 and then drawer the lines. Please note that the 2nd and 3rddrawers were 8 inches high and the 4th drawer was 9 inches high, so the stripes varied in size)
- Paint the body of the dresser with the blue paint
- When the painting is complete, proceed to apply the chalk paint wax n sections starting with the drawers. Apply in a circular motion using a wax brush. Use lint free rag to wipe off excess wax
- Once the wax is applied, buff the entire piece with another lint free rag, a clean one, one without wax
