In 2002, with the TV show Survivor growing in popularity, B-Crafty and her boys built in the OCNJ sand sculpting contest the logo for “Survivor Ocean City: Out-Swim, Out-Sun and Out-Spend”. Great memories and fun from that day, proving you can build just about anything in the sand.

Issue #135
Occasion: Beach Time
Category: Sand Sculpting
Materials Needed:
- Sandy beach
- Bucket and shovel
- Red and blue colored Jell-O
- Flour
- Star cookie cutter
- Imagination
Instructions:
- The first task for the building this one is to make a huge pile of sand to be the surface for the waving American Flag
- Once the face of the pile is complete, start shaping the flag, the stripes and the area for the stars
- Add the stripes’ color with the red Jell-O and flour
- Before adding the blue Jell-O, with the star cookie cutter gently press into the sand and while in place dust a bit of flour into the cutter
- When the stars are complete, very carefully sprinkle the blue Jell-O around the stars
B-Crafty Tip: B-Crafty likes it when her family participants dress in the theme of the sand sculpture. This adds as a great touch to the photos.

Betsy This is wonderful. It is beautifully constructed and I love the inclusion of instructions. I’m looking forward to seeing you on the 20th. Pat
