Sand Scrabble Board

The year was 2005 and the B-Crafty family built an oversized “Sand Scrabble Board”. The best part was pre-planning what they were going to spell out and connecting it all.

Issue #141

Occasion: Beach Time

Category: Sand Sculpting

Materials Needed:

  • Sandy beach
  • Bucket and shovel
  • Red and Blue Jell-O
  • Flour
  • Imagination

Instructions:

The key for this sculpture is to clear a large enough area to make the scrabble board. The words we spelled out were “Ocean City NJ Number One Family Resort”. After we designed the board we began building the individual scrabble tiles. The last step was to draw the lines with flour and then add the red or blue Jell-O in the double and triple score squares.

Betsy I love seeing all your sculptures. Each seems more clever than the last. It will be difficult to top this one. It is not only clever, but also well made and unique. Pat
