Sand Star Wars BB-8

There’s never a bad time to celebrate Star Wars so B-Crafty shares “Sand Star Wars BB-8” from the summer of 2016. This one had lots of “fans” on the beach.

Issue #192

Occasion: Beach Time

Category: Sand Sculpture

Materials Needed:

  • Sandy beach
  • Bucket and shovel
  • Orange Jell-O packets
  • Flour
  • Black and white shells

Instructions:

  • Build a large pile of sand layered with buckets of water and keep pounding it until it is firm all over
  • Begin at the top by carving the small half sphere on the top of BB-8
  • Then sculpt the round body part which is a large sphere
  • Add the details on the top with a beach reed, orange Jell-O and the black and white shells
  • The bottom part is created by carving the circles on each side of the sphere and accenting it with the orange Jell-O and flour

B-Crafty Tip: The secret for this sculpture is to make a large firm pile of sand even though you are going to be carving much of it away.
